The Effects of Boric Acid Additives on Aluminum Alloy Sliding Bearing Materials (ISAS 2018_280)

ABSTRACT Numerous studies have been carried out in the field of material science for the development of lightweight materials with high wear resistance, high strength and good corrosion resistance. Aluminum and its alloys are one of the most important engineering materials in the field of material science. Boron is the hardest mine after the diamond. The use of boron and its compounds as alloying elements is common. Boron and boron products have been found in researches that increase the physical, chemical, mechanical and metallurgical properties of materials positively. In this study, sliding bearing materials were produced by sand casting method to be used in experimental works by adding ppm of boric acid (H3BO3) to the aluminum alloy.
Microstructure and mechanical properties of the produced samples; OM, SEM, density and hardness measurements. As a result of the work done, the result of boric acid addition affects the mechanical and microstructure properties of the material positively.
