Citation Analysis of Turkey Addressing Plastic Surgery Publications

This study aims to make bibliometric analysis of the development of Plastic Surgery publications addressing Turkey between the years 1975 and 2017. Background: Plastic surgery publications addressing Turkey have been increasing in recent years; this study made bibliometric analysis of the number of publications and citation analysis of the issue in literature. Method: All plastic surgery publications addressing Turkey between the years 1975 and 2017 were retrieved from Web of Science (WoS; Thomson Reuters, New York, NY, USA) database using the plastic surgery key word, and bibliometric analysis was performed. Results: Totally 632 publications were found using the plastic surgery key word given in the method; 565 of these publications were articles. Akoz T (n=25, 3.96%) and Avan M (n=25, 3.96%) were the top two authors who produced the highest number of publications in Plastic Surgery. Istanbul University (52), Hacettepe University (42 ) and Ankara Numune Training Research Hospital (38) were found to be the institutions that had the highest number of publications.
